As they say in Russia: You cannot sit on two chairs at the same time. But that’s precisely what modern Russian women are trying to do. One chair is the patriarchal community, the second is female empowerment. Russian women want men to spend their money on them, but at the same time, they don’t want to lose their independence. This is the dilemma at the heart of the film. Our three heroines take matters into hand and start at a course called The School of Seduction, where they learn how to live, think and behave in order to be loved. But is this really what they want and dream about?
The film made its world premiere at CPH:DOX. Russian filmmaker Alina Rudnitskaya’s films include ’Catastrophe’ (2016), ’Victory Day’ (2014), ’Blood’ (2013) and ’I Will Forget This Day’ (2011).
