Skagen 72

Claus Weeke, Denmark, 1973

13 min.DK/Documentary

Three century's ago, at the northern-most tie of Denmark, the prosperous town of Skagen yeilded to natures timeless power. The creeping sands, prompted by the mighty arm of the sea, vanquished and swallowed everything in its drifting march. Pregnant fields and meadows, noble hamlets, peaceful commandings, even Northern Jutlands largest cathedral, all was erased in the oblivion of drifting sands ... From that time, people have failed to explain - Skagen (fra pressematerialet på Cannes-festivalen, 1973).
