A poetic portrait of everyday life in a remote area of Bolivia as told by Mayda, a nine year old girl from the village of Azurduy. Once a year the village is wrested out of its torpor. During a week-long market the village is inundated by itinerant tradesmen, fortune-tellers and Indian peasants who ride into town or walk down from the wide-spreading mountains. The film pays respect to the mountains' tranquil pulse.
