After two critically acclaimed albums, The Minds of 99 are about to make their third release, 'The Sun King'. With acidic lyrics, a fuckfinger to genres and tightly glued together by years of friendship, the band wants to fly higher. 'Big as a Sun' follows the group from sold-out concerts, isolation in a bunker and a long trip to Bornholm. The movie depicts the band's attempts to find their footing. The frontman and perfectionist, Niels Brandt, balances between ambitions and the person, Niels, 33 years old. Just as the five friends are on the verge of fulfilling their shared dreams since childhood, Niels' creative driving force - darkness - has disappeared. Will Niels have to go back into his dark mind to bring his visions to life? And can the glue in his wings withstand getting closer to the sun? A raw and honest story about five friends' journey towards the light.
