"Empty space" is a documentary about the thoughts and feelings of a mother and a daughter - and the younger sister, grasped while the teenage girl is growing-up into a young woman, who is preparing to move out and leave her childhood home, and not least the separation between mother and daughter.
A film about separation. Painful and humorous. This film is personal, but with a general expression. We witness a family during the period when a child is preparing itself to leave home. It is a film for parents, children and siblings. It is made to share the experience, so you may prepare yourself for the process, although the separation cannot be avoided. We experience the slow, but inexorable movement, steel against steel, the scissor's final snap through the umbilical cord. A kitchen requiem for three women.
