We may (or we may not) know the title character to be real life poet and writer on jazz and bicycle racing Ebbe Traberg, but poet-filmmaker Jørgen Leth puts him in the role of a mysterious stranger who arrives in Haiti on the eve of Jean Bertrand Aristide's 1991 ouster as Haiti's first freely-elected president. Leth paints a subdued thriller-like picture of dread, danger, violence and chaos.
