Four girl friends meet at a summerhouse on the coast in Tisvilde to celebrate one of their birthdays. They are all at different stages of love: Arlette, recently divorced, hasn't a clue about making it in the singles market. Line loves her husband, a reformed alcoholic, but he is driving her crazy. Camilla, though she is happy with her family, is hopelessly attracted to her lover, a married man. And Dorte, the eternal single girl, has fallen head over heels in love with an Italian delicatessen manager. Over the course of 24 hours everything is picked apart and analysed, and come Sunday all four have grown a little bit.
