Jesus Christ is born. He has an idea: If you are good to others, you will get the reward in Heaven. The message is powerful, and when he is crucified, his friends set out into the world to spread it. The Moslems also use much imagination to go to Heaven, and suddenly the pope of Rome gets a rival in the caliph of Bagdad. Wars, crusades and catastrophes. The Mongols invade Europe and bring the bubonic plaque with them. Does the earth come to an end? No. Is it not possible to use imagination in a positive way? Yes. People travel. To India, The Far East, America. Democracy comes into existence and machines are invented, wars break out before man finally gets a place in Heaven. From the moon there is a perfect view of the earth... »the most wonderful planet of the world«. The bloody history of two millenniums is told with bite and wit. Man's imagination is described in good and (especially) evil - with all due respect to the beautiful sides and deep surprise at the enormous power of folly.
