Screenwriter, illustrator. Born 12/9 1958. Graduated as a screenwriter from the National Film School of Denmark in 1999. He started working as an illustrator and author particularly focusing on children's and youth books. Aakeson got his breakthrough with the romantic comedy 'The One and Only' directed by Susanne Bier. The film became one of modern Danish cinema's greatest audience successes.
Kim Fupz has since demonstrated great productivity in collaboration with a diverse field of directors and is Denmark's leading screenwriter alongside Anders Thomas Jensen. He has taken many of his centrale themes and conflicts from the modern everyday life, often with strong females and weak males at the centre.
Among his greatest successes are 'Okay' (2002) directed by Jesper W. Nielsen, 'In Your Hands' (2004) directed by Annette K. Olesen and 'A Soap' (2006) directed by Pernille Fischer Christensen. 'A Soap' won numerous awards on the international festival circuit including the Silver Bear at the Berlinale.
He has since been working frequently abroad where he has written 'Perfect Sense' (2011) starring Ewan McGregor and directed by David MacKenzie, 'Happy End' (2011) directed by Björn Runge and 'Gnade' (2012) directed by Matthias Glasner.
