Anders Morgenthaler

Director. Born 1972. Graduated from the Kolding school of Design in 1998, and from the National Film School of Denmark in 2002.

Morgenthaler's graduation film 'Araki - The Killing of a Japanese Photographer' (2002) was selected for Berlin and won the Critics' Award at Poitiers, thus qualifying it for screening at Critics' Week in Cannes.

The animated feature film 'Princes'" (2006), Morgenthaler's feature debut, attracted international attention for its unique visual style and direct approach, was selected for Cannes' Directors' Fortnight as the opening film and won the Silver Méliès at Barcelona Sitges and the Gold Méliès in Lund.

In 2007 Morgenthaler finished his second feature film 'Echo', which competed in San Sebastian, London and AFI Los Angeles. 'The Apple & The Worm', Morgenthaler's third film, premiered to critical acclaim in 2009 and won the SIGNIS Jury Award at Buenos Aires IFF for Children and Youth in 2010. Anders Morgenthaler's third feature film 'I Am Here' (2014) is a live-action drama starring Kim Basinger. In 2019 he returned to animation with the childrens film 'The Street Party'.

In 2006 Morgenthaler and his producer Sarita Christensen founded the production company Copenhagen Bombay.
