Director. Born 1981 in Dunedin, New Zealand. Daniel Joseph Borgman graduated in Film Science from Otago University, New Zealand. He then moved to Copenhagen where he worked as a visual effects artist and film colourist on numerous feature film projects. He graduated as a director from the alternative film school Super16 in 2012.
Borgman's short films 'Lars and Peter' (2009) and 'Berik' (2010) were both selected for Cannes, the latter film winning the Grand Prix de la Semaine de la Critique.
Borgman's first feature film, the Danish-New Zealand co-production 'The Weight of Elephants' (2013), and his second feature 'Loving Pia' (2017) were selected for The Berlinale. His third feature 'Resin' (2019) was selected for Toronto Film Festival.
