Kaalund served as manager of the theatre Mungo Park from 1992-1998 and Østre Gasværk Theatre 1998-2007. He has directed a wide range of plays since the 1990s.
Kaalund has directed episodes for the series ‘Nikolaj og Julie’ (2002-03). He also directed 29 episodes on the series ’Rita’ (2012-20).
In his feature film debut as a director ‘Touch Me’ (2022), Kaalund continues his collaboration with Mille Dinesen who plays the main character in the romantic comedy.
