Director, scriptwriter. Born 7/1 1971. Martin Zandvliet started his film career as an editor. He debuted as a director with the documentary film 'Angels of Brooklyn' (2002).
His debut as a feature film director came with 'Applause' (2009), which was selected for Toronto Film Festival and earned Paprika Steen several awards for her lead performance. 'A Funny Man' (2011), a biopic starring Nikolaj Lie Kaas about a famous Danish comedian, became the number one Danish box-office hit of the year. The film also premiered at Toronto.
Zandvliet's third feature film, the historical drama 'Land of Mine' (2015), received an Oscar nomination in the international feature film category.
In 2018, he created his first American production, 'The Outsider', starring Jared Leto. Zandvliet signed the fifth instalment in the Department Q crime thriller series, 'The Marco Effect' (2020).
