Niels Pagh Andersen is one of Danish documentary film's most prolific editors. Since 1979 he has edited several hundred films in all genres, mostly documentary.
Pagh Andersen has been involved in a great number of international film projects, including Joshua Oppenheimer's Oscar-nominated 'The Act of Killing' (2012) and 'The Look of Silence' (2014).
Other prominent works include Pirjo Honkasalo's 'The 3 Rooms of Melancholia' (2004), winner of the main prize at CPH:DOX, Jennifer Fox' 'Flying: Confessions of a Free Woman' (2006), nominated for a Cinema Eye Honors Award, Kristina Lindström and Maud Nycander's 'Palme' (2012), which received the Swedish Guldbagge Award for best editing, and Ai Weiwei's 'Human Flow' (2017), selected for Venice Film Festival.
Besides his work as editor, Pagh Andersen teaches at workshops, film festivals, film schools and universities around the world and also works as a supervising editor.
In 2005, Andersen was honoured with the Danish lifetime achievement award, the Roos Prize. In 2012, he became Professor in Editing at the Norwegian Film School. He is author of the book 'Order in Chaos' about the art of editing (2021).
