Arcel made his feature film debut with 'King's Game' (2004), the first-ever Danish political thriller. Arcel breathed new life into Danish chrildren and teen films with the effect-laden 'Island of Lost Souls' (2007). He also directed the Oscar-nominated 'A Royal Affair' (2012), which was honoured with two Silver Bears at the Berlinale. He made his international debut with 'The Dark Tower' (2017).
Arcel has worked as a screenwriter on all titles in the cinematic adaptation of Jussi Adler-Olsen's 'Department Q'-series as well as a number of titles such as 'Catch that Girl' (2002), the US remake in 2004, 'Fighter' (2007) and the massive mystery blockbuster 'The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo' (2009).
