Sine Plambech

Director, anthropologist. Born 1975, Denmark. Senior researcher at the Danish Institute for International Studies (DIIS) and a previous Visiting Professor at Yale University.

For 20 years, Plambech has worked with migrant communities in Thailand, Nigeria, Italy and Denmark, related to her research on migration, human trafficking, the European migrant crisis, sex work migration and marriage migration.

Plambech's work has resulted in awardwinning documentaries such as 'Ticket to Paradise' (2008) and 'Love on Delivery' (2008), directed by Janus Metz, and 'Trafficking' (2010) directed by Sine Plambech and Judith Lansade and 'Becky's Journey' (2014).

'Heartbound' (2018), a continuation of Plambech and Metz' two films from 2008 about migration and Thai-Danish marriages, premiered at the Toronto Film Festival and won the top doc award at Zurich Film Festival. The film was selected for IDFA 2018. Plambech and Metz continue their collaboration in 2024 on their next film RESCUE on the migrant rescue ships in the Mediterranean.
