Langstrup debuted as an author in 1995 with the horror novel 'Cat'. He subsequently helped establish the horror genre in Danish litterature and has been called the Danish Stephen King. Langstrup has also written novels in many other genres, such as several critically acclaimed crime novels. His novel 'All That She Wished She Didn't Understand' won the prize for best horror-book in 2011.
Langstrup made his debut as a screenwriter with the horror film 'Finale' (2018), which is based on his novel 'All That She Wished She Didn't Understand' and is directed by Søren Juul Petersen.
