A. Film was founded in 1988 by animators Stefan Fjeldsmark, Karsten Kiilerich, Jørgen Lerdam, Hans Perk and producer Anders Mastrup, who had previously worked together on the animated film "Valhalla" (1986).
Among A. Film's numerous productions are the Oscar-nominated short film "When Life Departs" (Karsten Kiilerich, 1996), about children's perception of death, the classically animated "Help! I'm a fish" (Stefan Fjeldmark og Michael Hegner, 2000) and the mega hit "Terkel in trouble" (Stefan Fjeldmark, 2004), which was the first fully computer animated feature film in Denmark. Along with French production company M6, the company was behind the prestigious "Asterix and the Vikings" (Stefan Fjeldmark og Jesper Møller, 2006) that had a 22 million euro budget.
The company has grown into becoming one of the leading animation studios in Europe and has specialized in both classical hand-drawing techniques and CGI animation.
