Nikolaj Arcel's period drama "A Royal Affair", based on a pivotal event in Danish history from the 1770s about the deranged King Christian VII, his queen Caroline Mathilda and the German Physician Johann Struensee, took home two awards at the Berlinale on Saturday.
Mikkel Boe Følsgaard who plays the king received the Silver Bear for Best Actor, and Nikolaj Arcel and Rasmus Heisterberg, who have collaborated on several films together including "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo", were honoured with the Silver Bear for Best Script.
Mads Mikkelsen and Alicia Vikander play the two other leads as Struensee and Caroline Mathilda.
"A Royal Affair" is produced by Louise Vesth, Sisse Graum Jørgensen and Meta Louise Foldager for Zentropa with support from the Danish Film Institute.
