Valhalla Rising to New York

FESTIVAL. Valhalla Rising, by Nicolas Winding Refn, is selected to screen at New York's BAMcimenaFEST this weekend.

Nicolas Winding Refn's "Valhalla Rising" is selected to screen at New York's BAMcimenaFEST (9-20 June 2010). IFC Films released the film in US theatres on 4 June. 

Concluding his review on "Valhalla Rising", Anton Bitel wrote "It is yet another string to Refn's bow, consolidating his position as one of the most consistently exciting and versatile auteurs working in Europe today." In the March edition of the French film magazine Positif, "Valhalla Rising" is compared to Stanley Kubrick's sci-fi masterpiece "2001: A Space Odyssey" from 1968. "Valhalla Rising" is produced by Johnny Andersen, Bo Ehrhardt and Henrik Danstrup with co-producer Karen Smyth for Nimbus Film Productions ApS, One Eye Production, La Belle Allee Productions Ltd, Scanbox Entertainment A/S and Blind Eye Productions.

BAM, America's oldest continuously operating performing arts center, introduced the BAMcinemaFEST two years ago. The festival programme includes some 20 feature films, short fiction films and open-air screenings.
