'Midnight Sun' handler om den 17-årige Katie, der er indespærret i sit hus om dagen, fordi sollys kan skade hende. Pigen er kun udenfor når solen er væk, og en aften møder hun drengen Charlie. Katie fortæller ikke om sin sygdom, og de to indleder en romantisk sommer sammen.
