Under 2. Verdenskrig spillede Elizabeth saxofon i bigbandet "The blonde Bomshells". Efter krigen blev hun gift og lagde saxofonen på hylden. Da hendes mand dør finder hun igen saxofonen frem, møder tilfældigt bandets gamle trommeslager og på opfordring fra sit barnebarn forsøger hun at samle bandet, så de kan spille til barnebarnets skolebal.
