Stanley er forfatter og skriver manuskripter til skrækfilm. Inspirationen finder han i sit eget liv. Han fanger unge piger, som han drukner og opbevarer på bunden af søen, hvor han bor. Men en dag lykkes det en pige at undslippe og nu indledes en intens jagt på seriemorderen i det lille lokalsamfund.
