Efter et attentatforsøg på senatoren Padmé Amidala skal Obi-Wan og Anakin Skywalker dels finde de skyldige og dels fortsat passe på Padmé. Sporet fører Obi-Wan til nogle separatister, der truer Republikken. Samtidig har Anakin og Padmé det svært med at skulle holde sig i ro.
