Lara og John lever et helt almindeligt og lykkeligt liv med deres lille søn, da Lara pludselig bliver anklaget for mord og arresteret. Lara bliver dømt og fængslet, men John forstår snart, at Lara aldrig vil overleve sin tid i fængslet. Han tager derfor en drastisk beslutning om at befri hende, koste hvad det vil.
