Creative Europe MEDIA Desk Denmark

What is Creative Europe MEDIA Desk Denmark?
Our main focus is to advise and inform professionals in the film, tv and multimedia sector about the audiovisual policies and funding possibilities within the Creative Europe programme and the MEDIA sub-programme of the EU. Professionals are always welcome to contact the Creative Europe Desk for a meeting.

What is the Creative Europe Programme?
Creative Europe is the Euoprean Union's support programme which aims to strengthen the competitiveness of the European cultural and creative sectors. The MEDIA sub-programme supports the audiovisual industry within film, TV, distribution, international networking, training and new media industries as well as the international circulation of European audiovisual products.

The current Creative Europe-programme started on 1 January 2021 and runs until 31 December 2027. With a budget of €2.44 billion the Creative Europe has increased in budget since the last programme (2014-2020).

The programme is divided into three strands:

  • MEDIA, covering the audiovisual and film sectors;
  • Culture, covering all cultural and creative sectors (with the exception of the audiovisual and film sectors);
  • Cross Sector, facilitating collaboration across creative sectors and covering the news media sector.

Our colleagues at Slots- og Kulturstyrelsen manage the Culture-strand and together we manage the Cross Sector-strand.

What does the MEDIA sub-programme offer?
Independent production companies, distribution companies and sales agents can apply for development or distribution funding in the form of non-repayable grants. Financial assistance is available for training providers and organisers of markets and festivals.

Who can apply?
Eligible to apply for funding grants are practitioners in the audiovisual industry such as producers of film, TV, animation, computer games, new media companies, distribution and sales companies as well as "enabling" organisations such as training bodies, film schools, promotional events and festival organisers.

How do I apply?
Deadlines for the various schemes run throughout the year. See the list of MEDIA-deadlines here.
