Venice Film Festival is the world's oldest film festival. The first edition was held in 1932.
The Golden Lion is the festival's top prize, awarded to the best film in the Competition. In 1955, the Golden Lion went to Carl Theodor Dreyer's 'The Word'/'Ordet'.
