Producer. Born 28/4 1981, Poland. Grew up in Norway. Graduated from the producing programme at The National Film School of Denmark in 2011. Has a bachelor in Film Studies and a Master in Media Production from Norwegian University of Science and Technology and went to the European Film College in 2003-04.
Jarek independently co-produced Nicolas Winding Refn's "Only God Forgives" (2013), which was selected for Competition at the Cannes Film Festival in 2013. After producing a number of short films, he and Ditte Milsted co-produced Grímur Hákonarson's Icelandic feature "Rams" (2015), which has received numerous awards, including the top prize in the Un Certain Regard section at Cannes.
In 2011, Jacob Jarek established the production company Profile Pictures along with producers Ditte Milsted and Thor Sigurjonsson.
Profile Pictures has quickly reached a position as a solid and ambitious young company, specializing in genre films with an artistic edge, by new directors. That goes for Jarek's productions in the company of Ali Abassi's horror film 'Shelley' (2016), selected for the Berlinale Panorama section in 2016, Fenar Ahmad's action drama 'Darkland' (2017), a great critic's and box office hit, Jens Dahl's single location thriller '3 Things' (2017) and Ahmad's 'Valhalla' (2019).
Jacob Jarek received the Danish Directors' Ib Award in 2017.
