Ikke mindre end 14 nomineringer er der denne gang til danske film, når der lørdag den 3. december uddeles priser til årets bedste europæiske film og filmfolk ved European Film Awards i Berlin.
En tredjedel af alle de nominerede navne er danske, og det skyldes især Lars von Triers "Melancholia" og Susanne Biers "Hævnen". De to film er begge nomineret som årets europæiske film og de to instruktører nomineret som årets instruktør.
Prisfesten indledes på den røde løber kl. 18, hvor gæsterne ankommer til Tempodrom midt i Berlin, og kl. 20 starter prisuddelingsceremonien.
Mads Mikkelsen er indstillet til at modtage European Film Awards' Æres-Pris, den såkaldte European Achievement in World Cinema 2011.
En lang række af de nominerede og på anden måde involverede danskere har også meldt deres ankomst: instruktør Susanne Bier (Hævnen), manuskriptforfatter Anders Thomas Jensen (Hævnen), skuespiller Ulrich Thomsen, Lars von Triers ægtefælle Bente Trier (Melancholia), producer Louise Vesth (Melancholia), Meta Louise Foldager (Melancholia, Smukke mennesker), instruktør Mikkel Munch-Fals (Smukke mennesker), producent Peter Aalbæk (Melancholia, Hævnen), manuskriptkonsulent og kreativ producer Vinca Wiedemann (Melancholia, Hævnen), filmklipper Molly Malene Stensgaard (Melancholia), productiondesigner Jette Lehman (Melancholia) og direktør for Det Danske Filminstitut Henrik Bo Nielsen. Michael Persbrandt, der er nomineret for "Hævnen" er også på gæstelisten.
Også den danske presse er til stede, bl.a. DR, Politiken, Berlingske, Jyllands-Posten, Information og Weekendavisen.
