Ikke mindre end 14 nomineringer til danske film blev det til, da Det Europæiske Filmakademi præsenterede den samlede liste over film og filmfolk, der dyster om årets europæiske filmpriser, der uddeles ved European Film Awards lørdag den 3. december i Berlin. Det er Lars von Triers ”Melancholia” og Susanne Biers ”Hævnen”, der særlig har modtaget mange nomineringer.
De to film er begge nomineret som årets europæiske film og de to instruktører nomineret som årets instruktør. Også de to films manuskriptforfattere er nomineret: von Trier for ”Melancholia” og Anders Thomas Jensen for ”Hævnen”.
Kirsten Dunst og Charlotte Gainsbourg er begge nomineret til prisen for årets kvindelige skuespiller for ”Melancholia”, der også har modtaget nominering for bedste fotograf (Manuel Alberto Claro), klipper (Molly Malene Stensgaard) og production designer (Jette Lehmann).
Mikael Persbrandt er nomineret til prisen for årets mandlige skuespiller for ”Hævnen”. Der er yderligere nomineringer til to danske film. Mikkel Munch-Fals' ”Smukke mennesker” er nomineret i kategorien ”European Discovery”, og Daniel Borgmans ”Berik” er nomineret til bedste kortfilm.
