Actor, director. Born 28/9 1969. Graduated from the National School of Performing Arts in 1994.
Anders W Berthelsen has been one of the most sought after Danish actors since the '90s. He made his feature film debut in 'Portland' (1996) by Niels Arden Oplev. He had his breakthrough in the popular TV-series 'Taxi' (1996-1999). He also appeared in the two Dogme95-films 'Mifune' (1999) and 'Italian for Beginners' (2000), for which he was nominated for two Danish Bodil Awards as well as two Robert Awards.
Berthelsen was highly productive during the '00s. He starred in the award winning period drama series 'Better Times' (2004-2006). He also appeared in feature films from some of the leading Danish directors such as 'King's Game' (2005) by Nikolaj Arcel, 'We Shall Overcome' (2006) by Niels Arden Oplev, 'Just Another Love Story' (2007) by Ole Bornedal, 'What No One Knows' (2008) by Søren Kragh-Jacobsen and 'Dancers' (2008) by Pernille Fischer Christensen. He earned a Danish Robert nomination for his performance in both 'Just Another Love Story' and 'What No One Knows'.
In the 2010's he appeared in the box office hits 'The Reunion'-films (2011-2016). He also starred in 'Rosa Morena' (2011) and 'Superclásico' (2011). Both films earned him a Robert nomination. He also had prominent supporting roles in 'Mom Squad' (2019) and 'Ditte & Louise' (2018), the latter earned him a Bodil nomination.
He made his debut as a feature film director with 'Daniel' (2019), which he co-directed with his collaborator through many years, Niels Arden Oplev. Berthelsen has appeared in several theatre plays since 1994.
