Da en simpel slagterkone bliver godsejerinde, stiger den nyvundne status hende til hovedet. Med næsen i sky afviser hun familiens slagterlærling, da han anmoder om hendes datters hånd. Heldigvis er den arme slagterlærling venner med Fyrtårnet og Bivognen, der er ansat ved cirkus og har forstand på afvæbnende klovnerier. Sammen skal de nok få prikket hul på slagterkonens fine fornemmelser.
